Celestial Vibes

A journey in digital art and experimental music.

Celestial Vibes was built in Lightwave 3D with flattened pyramid shaped polygonal structures like interlocking faceted crystals. Each polygon is image mapped with a colorful animated sequence which is visually abstract/analog and ever-changing. The sequence is constrained by the very rigid digital structure of the polygons. This is done with the goal of achieving a balance between these two design elements. The brain responds to the changing colors and movement of the image-mapped sequence by mentally blending them together to create the experience of interconnected mandalas in motion.

The animation is accompanied by the pleasing sounds of the vibraphone.
